Johannes Rydberg, Swedish Physicist

Johannes Rydberg (1854-1919), Swedish physicist and spectroscopist. Rydberg is most famous for the Rydberg formula, which used the Rydberg constant. The Rydberg formula is used in atomic physics to describe the relation between the wavelengths in spectral lines of chemical elements. Rydberg's work in this field provided a basis for determining the structure of the atom. He also worked on reorganizing the periodic table.
