The bride's uncle and guardian, Mr Benjamin Meaker, who started the outfitting business with his brother Edgar, was not present at the wedding and the bride was given away by her brother. The bridegroom is the son of Mr John R Payne, retired company director and amateur yachtsman, and has known his bride since they were children.
