Ruined remains of Muchelney Abbey, Somerset, 2018. Aerial view of new parchmarks showing foundations of the abbey in the hot summer of 2018. Muchelney Abbey was a Benedictine Abbey established in the 10th century on the site of an earlier monastery damaged by Viking raids. It closed in 1538 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries and the buildings were demolished.
