Se trababa de un antiguo monumento que la tradición de aquellos lugares reverenciaba por la derrota, verdadera o fabulosa, de los franceses en aquel valle bajo el emperador Carlomagno. En memoria de aquel suceso, los españoles habían levanatdo una pirámide en el campo de batalla. El ejército de los Pirineos Occidentales, conseguida una victoria sobre los españoles, vengaban esa antigua humillación. Grabado.
