Red-figured cup, Greek, made in Athens, 440-430 BCE. The decoration is dedicated entirely to the deeds of the Athenian hero Theseus. In the tondo he drags the dead or dying Minotaur from the Labyrinth of Knossos, its maze of passages suggested by the meander squares. Around this Theseus is shown attacings Kerkyon, Procrustes, Skiron, the Bull of Marathon, Sinis and the Krommyonian Sow. GR 1850.3-2.3.
