Hercules and the Mares of Diomedes. The Twelve Labors of Hercules are a series of episodes concerning a penance carried out by the Greek mythical hero Heracles (Romanized as Hercules). He was sent to perform twelve difficult feats, called labors. If he succeeded, he would be purified of his sin and be granted immortality.
