'Lord North', (1881). Frederick North, 2nd Earl of Guilford (1732-1792), was Prime Minister of Great Britain. North formed a government in 1770 but resigned on March 27 1782, after a vote of no confidence resulting from the British defeat at Yorktown in America the year before. He is supposed to have cried, Oh God! It's all over! It's all over! From Old and New London: A Narrative of Its History, Its People, and Its Places.
