'The Battle of the Rivers', (1919). Scene from the First World War, 1914-1919: 'A detachment of the Belgian Artillery preparing to take up a position of attack on Alost [Aalst, in Flanders, Belgium], after having been driven out by the Germans. In this they were successful, but their success was short-lived, the ever-increasing horde of Germans compelling them to retire upon Antwerp.'
