Pietro Mascagni, Italian Composer

Pietro Mascagni (December 7, 1863 - August 2, 1945) was an Italian composer and one of the principal exponents of verismo, a style of opera writing marked by melodramatic plots with common, everyday people as characters. Mascagni wrote fifteen operas, an operetta, several orchestral and vocal works, and piano music. He enjoyed financial success during his lifetime, both as a composer and conductor. John H.
