The Tichborne (Flour) Dole - Sir Anthony Doughty Tichborne, fourteenth baronet, doling out half-a-gallon of flour to young David Mills, aged three, (holding an outsize bag) during annual distribution of the legendary Tichborne Dole when 989 tenants on the estate were given flour according to the ancient custom. Each man receive one gallon of flour, the women and children half-a-gallon from a large container outside Tichborne Manor, home of the Tichborne family. March 26, 1949.
