Sigmops (or Gonostoma) elongatum, the elongated loosejaw, is a predatory fish living in deep mesopelagic waters. It has photophores on its face and body that produce light, bioluminescence. This individual was captured in a trawl between 200 and 400 meters depth in the Gulf of Mexico, 2007.
