William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877)

William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877) of Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire. English mathematician, physicist and pioneer in the field of photography. In 1841 he patented the calotype process which produced a negative from which multiple copies could be made. He was one of the first to decipher the cuneiform inscriptions from Niniveh.
