Title: Paisley Caves, Oregon
Caption: Paisley Caves is widely regarded as the oldest confirmed archaeological site in the western hemisphere at 14,500 years old. The caves are located in a volcanic formation called Five Mile Point in central Oregon. In this cave, the abundance of bones of long extinct animals such as camels, horses, bison, waterfowl, and several others provided powerful evidence that they were associated with the ancient inhabitants of the site. This cave also yielded human coprolites, sewing thread fragments, and stone and bone tools. Photo taken in 2014.
