Caption: CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING - IV Winter Olympics, Garmisch Partenkirchen 1936. The Italian Fiamme Verdi team won the 1st gold medal in the demonstration race (not counted in the medal) of "military patrol", with a time of 2h, 28 ', 35 ": Captain Enrico Silvestri (12 May 1896 - 1977), Sergeant Luigi Perenni (Italianization of Alois Prenn, 6 June 1913 - 28 August 1943), soldiers Stefano Sertorelli (24 December 1911 - 17 December 1994) and Sisto Scilligo (1911 - 1992) It was a very tough race, 25 km with 840 meters in altitude to go with a rifle and mountain bag for the total weight of 10 kg per person, the success of which was much sought after by both Germany and the Nordic countries, Finland in particular. Against all expectations, the Italian team outperformed foreign competition and won the Olympic title by entering history. Germany, February 14, 1936
