Stamp seal (Bezoar goat hit by a throwing spear), Kunststitfung, Carnelian, cut, drilled, Total: Height: 1,64 cm; Width: 2,02 cm; Depth: 0,88 cm, Body ornamentation, glyptic, goat, Capricorn, The intaglio shows a standing Bezoar goat or Capricorn on the front side. The animal is surrounded by branches, undergrowth or plants. In its neck is a throwing spear. The small rings indicate a knot shaft. A whole group of gems shows only the hit animal; mostly it is wild goats, ibexes or antelopes, rarely cattle. The old motif, taken over from the Orient, is often used in the group of the later so-called island stones as well as on the Graeco-Persian gems.
