John Rackham AKA Calico Jack, English Pirate

John Rackham AKA Calico Jack (1682 - 1720) was an English pirate captain operating in the Bahamas and Cuba. He is most remembered for two things: the design of his Jolly Roger flag, a skull with crossed swords, and for having two female crew members, Mary Read and Anne Bonny (his lover). In 1720, he and his crew were captured, found guilty of piracy, and hanged. Anne and Mary were reprieved, when it was discovered they were both pregnant. (cropped and cleaned).
