(manner of), 1538 - c. 1544, Anne de Pisseleu, lady-in-waiting to Queen Mother Louise of Savoy and, since 1530, mistress of Francis I(1494-1547) who, in 1533, married her off to Jean de Brosses to whom, on that occasion, he conferred the title Comte d'Etampes. Anne d'Etampes retained her influence at court until the death of Francis I. She is depicted as an amazon on a stationary horse.
