Ebola Virus Replication, Illustration

An illustrated diagram of the Ebola virus replication process. The ebola virus is a single-stranded RNA filovirus responsible for severe haemorrhagic fever in humans. In this illustration, translated viral proteins and replicated viral genomes gather at the host cell's plasma membrane. Glycoproteins (GP) are further modified in the host Golgi apparatus and delivered to the plasma membrane inside secretory vesicles. Nucleoproteins encapsidate the viral RNA while membrane-associated proteins assemble and bud from the cell surface. The host is destroyed once the virus buds from the cell. Image 5 of 5.
