Korean War. April 1955. Ex-soldier of the Belgian battalion of the 'US Command' in Korea, Roger F. Hoste, crossed the Military Demarcation Line in Korea to the Korean-Chinese side on August 25. He refused repatriation to the American side at the secretaries' meeting on February 11th. The Red Cross Society of China assisted him to come to China and helped him get his job at the Shantung Paper Mill in Tsinan, Shantung Province. Here, students of Tsinan, who are visiting the mill during their spring holiday, are asking Hoste for his autograph. (Photo by: Sovfoto/UIG via Getty Images).
