Hiram Stevens Maxim

Hiram Stevens Maxim (1840-1916), an American-born inventor who later moved to Britain and became a British citizen. In 1884, he invented the Maxim Gun, the first portable, fully automatic machine gun. He also invented the spring-loaded common mousetrap. Color enhancement of BM8708.
