Claude-Louis Berthollet, French Chemist

Claude-Louis Berthollet (1748-1822) was a French chemist and developer of a chlorine-based bleach.He was influential in four areas: theoretical chemistry, experimental chemistry, practical chemistry, and chemical writing. Berthollet was one of several scientists who went with Napoleon to Egypt, and was a member of the physics and natural history section of the Institut d'Egypte.
