Osborne House and formal gardens, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, 1999. Osborne House was 'a place of one's own, quiet and retired' for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The royal couple bought Osborne as a relatively small house, and the present house developed in the Italianate style between 1845-51, designed by Prince Albert and Thomas Cubitt. The Dunbar Wing was added in 1890.
