A popular theme was the world of amusement. In this woodblock print a young man, who looked like a nobleman, is shown in a half-portrait. He holds a falcon in his left hand and a brush in his right. His kimono wears eggplant as a pattern and together with the falcon motif alludes to the three lucky dreams at New Year. It was said that dreaming of eggplants, a falcon or the Fuji mountain on New Year's night brought good luck.
