Interior of Coutts & Co bank, 440 The Strand, Westminster, London. The bank was first established in 1692 by John Campbell. It became known as Coutts & Co in 1822 after James Coutt, a partner from 1755 onwards. It moved to its present address in 1904, and the building was designed by MacVicar Anderson; it was redeveloped by Frederick Gibberd in 1973-1978. The bank has had close links to the Royal Family since 1716 and has held an account for every British sovereign since George III (1738-1820).
