Brain, PET Scan, Psychopath

Sagittal PET Brain scan with F18 FDG reveals decreased metabolic activity in the frontal orbital cortex, which is associated with imbalance in behaviour seen with psychopaths and may be related to inability to suppress the amygdala, which is involved with aggression and appetites, ethical behaviour, moral decision-making and impulse control. There is normal activity elsewhere in the brain.
