He was one of the historic leaders of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and of the Workers' General Union (UGT). He was Minister of Labour Relations between 1931 and 1933. Miguel Maura Gamazo (1887 — 1971) Spanish politician of the Restoration and the Second Republic, became minister of the Interior in Zamora's provisional government.
