The Manx cat is a breed of domestic cat originating on the Isle of Man, with a naturally occurring mutation that shortens the tail. Many Manx have a small stub of a tail, but Manx cats are best known as being entirely tailless, along with elongated hind legs and a rounded head. Harrison William Weir (May 5, 1824 - January 31, 1906) was an English gentleman and artist. In 1889, he wrote Our Cats and All About Them describing and illustrating the pedigree varieties of the time.
