Jade circular ring with two birds and lingzhi in high relief, Ming dynasty, China, 1368-1644. A speckled white circular ring with two birds separated by lingzhi sprays on the outside and on top of the ring all in high relief. The jade has black staining on the birds and lingzhi. The staining of jade to enhance its beauty was practised by the jade workers from at least the Tang dynasty on.
