The Battle on the Volturno - the final repulse of the Neapolitans..., 1860. Creator: Unknown.

The Battle on the Volturno - the final repulse of the Neapolitans - from a sketch by our special artist, Frank Vizetelly, 1860. 'The Royalists were steadily advancing on all sides, and matters were beginning to look black, indeed, for the national cause, when Garibaldi, seeing how critical was the state of affairs, galloped to the head of three or four hundred of his men, and, shouting "Corragio Avanti!" dashed right into the enemy's ranks, and, being followed by his soldiers, the Royalists were driven back at the bayonet's point to the gates of Capua. This brilliant incident, which occurred at the foot of Monte St. Angelo, decided the fortunes of the day".' From "Illustrated London News", 1860.
