The assassination of Tsar Alexander II: the place outside the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg is strewn with corpses and debris of the bomb-explosion, while Alexander emerges alive from his coach, only to be killed by another bomb shortly afterward. Labeled lithograph. Alexander II (1818 - 1881) was the Emperor of Russia from 2 March 1855 until his assassination on 13 March 1881. He was also the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Finland.
