Male Pacific walrus

Walrus masturbating. View of a male pacific walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens) masturbating on a rock. Pacific walruses live in the north Pacific Ocean, around the Bering Sea. They are gregarious marine mammals, spending much of their time resting on rocks and ice floes. They use their tusks to root around on the seabed for molluscs, their main prey. Stiff whiskers around their mouth helps them feel their way around the seabed. The tusks, which are massively enlarged canine teeth, may also be used in social interactions. Photographed on Round Island, Alaska, USA.
