Lead Bactrian camel, Sui-early Tang dynasty, China, late 6th-7th century. Lead two-humped camel, the head thrown back and to one side. The camel is lying down with legs underneath, one protruding, a shaggy mane and details; the base with a circular plug. Such camels have been known to decorate Buddhist shrines of this period.
