1938 Austin 7 Pearl Cabriolet car. Artist: Unknown

1938 Austin 7 Pearl Cabriolet car. The Pearl Cabriolet was one of the last versions of the Austin Seven. By end of production in 1939, nearly 300,000 Sevens had been made. For 1932 the wheelbase and rear track were increased and for 1933 the three-speed gearbox was replaced by a four-speed. August 1934 saw dramatic changes, as the all-new Pearl and Ruby models were introduced, with dropped chassis frames and cowled radiators. The third jewel to appear in the Austin crown was the two-seater Opal, initially retaining the old style chassis and radiator. The Pearl Cabriolet featured fixed side windows with a rollback top. It was modified in early 1937, to remove crossbars between the cant rails so that the roof space could be completely open.
