Jun 23, 2008 - Santa Monica, California, USA - Controversial comedian GEORGE CARLIN, 71, born in New York City, died Sunday night of heart failure in Santa Monica. Carlin started doing stand up comedy in the 60's and was most famous for his 'Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television' which resulted in a lawsuit that ended in Supreme Court and the creation of 'the family hour' on network TV. Carlin also wrote a book called 'Brain Droppings' and released many bestselling comedy albums. Carlin was also the 1st guest host on Saturday Night Live.
