The Sabertooth Longhorn Beetle (Macrodontia cervicornis) is one of the largest beetles in the world; the largest individuals approach seven inches total length. Much of the life of this species is spent as a larva  up to 10 years. Larvae feed on dead trees. This individual photographed in the Peruvian Amazon, 2017.
