Constance of Arles 99 and unknown French queen 100. Constance of Arles, 986~1034, or Constance of Provence, was the third wife and queen of King Robert II of France. She wears a veil that covers hair, neck and bosom like a wimple. The tunic of the Franks extended from the neck and fell to the feet. Handcolored copperplate engraving from Robert von Spalart's Historical Picture of the Costumes of the Principal People of Antiquity and Middle Ages, Vienna, 1802.
