The Christmas Carol Singer - from a painting by Harrison Weir, 1858. British artist Harrison Weir was interested in all aspects of nature, and animals feature strongly in his prolific output. He worked for The Illustrated London News as a draughtsman and engraver from the first issue in 1841 and for many years thereafter. Weir organised the first cat show in England, at the Crystal Palace, London, in 1871. From "Illustrated London News", 1858.
