Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, a church in Florence, Italy. The first great Basilica in Florence, and the city's principal Dominican church. Designed by Fra Sisto Fiorentino and Fra Ristoro da Campi. Building began around 1246 AD, and was completed in 1360 under the supervision of Friar Lacopop Talenti, but was not consecrated until 1420. The upper part of the facade was completed circa 1470 by Leone Battisa Alberti.
