Monkoullo village water carrier. The Ethiopian Empire, also known as Abyssinia, was a kingdom that spanned a geographical area in the current states of Eritrea and Ethiopia. Water carrier was a profession that existed before the advent of centralized water supply systems. A water carrier collected water from a source and transported or carried containers with water to people's homes.
