Mateo Morral Roca traveled to Madrid in 1906 to prepare the attack against Alfonso XIII, consisting of a homemade bomb hidden in a bouquet of flowers that he threw from the balcony of the boarding house where he was staying against the procession when it passed. The bouquet with the pump was directed towards the royal carriage, but stumbled in its fall with the tram line and turned towards the crowd. The kings were unhurt, but almost thirty people died.
