Title: Conjunctiva Illustration, Illustration
Caption: An illustrated sagittal section of the eye emphasizing the conjunctiva, a layer of tissue that covers the sclera and lines the inside of the eyelids. The conjunctiva produces mucus and tears to help lubricate the and prevent microbes from entering the eye. The conjunctiva is divided into three sections with the bulbar conjunctiva (yellow) covering the eyeball and over the sclera, the palpebral conjunctiva (green) which lines the eyelids, and the conjunctival fornix (red) which forms the junction between the bulbar and palpebral conjunctiva.
