Samuel Colt, American Inventor

Samuel Colt, holding his celebrated revolver, sometimes called Colt's Patent Pacifier, or, more simply, the Difference. This weapon tamed the Plains. Samuel Colt (1814 -1862) was an American inventor and industrialist. He was the founder of Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company (Colt's Manufacturing Company), and is widely credited with popularizing the revolver. In 2006, he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
