'The boat was tilted to a perilous angle'. Picture of a lifeboat containing passengers of the R.M.S. Hesperian, which was torpedoed on the 4th September 1915 off Fastnet by the German submarine U.20, the same U-boat that sank the Lusitania. On 6th September she sank 130 miles west of Queenstown (Cobh) after unsuccessful attempts to tow her to port. Thirty-two people were lost. Brave Boys and Girls in Wartime. True stories.
