The 1889-1890 pandemic, often referred to as the Russian Flu, was one of the deadliest pandemics in history, killing one million people. It recurred in 1892, when it killed Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and grandson of Queen Victoria, on 14 January 1892. This image from the Illustrated Police News from 1892 mourns his death.
