Robert Yerkes,1917

Robert Mearns Yerkes (1876-1956), US psychologist. Yerkes worked in the fields of comparative psychology and intelligence testing. He also worked in ethology and primatology. He supported eugenics, and worked on studies of race and intelligence. He was professor of psychobiology from 1924 at Yale University. His work with chimpanzees is documented in 'Almost Human' (1924). The Yerkes National Primate Research Center is named in his honor. Photographed in November 1917 at Yale University, while a Major in the US Army's Sanitary Corps.
