Greece, Kassope-Katagogion

Kassope was founded at the beginning of the 4th century BC, possibly as a consolidation of smaller rural villages. It is a splendid example of a city based on the Hippodamian grid plan. The city walls enclose a grid plan of city blocks. The paved roads, often featuring drains for rainwater, were built in steps. The city features a vast agora, ruins of the bouleuterion, a katagogion (360-350 BC) and a theater (300-250 BC).
