Emily Davison throwing herself in front of the King's horse during the Derby, Epsom, Surrey, 1913. Emily Davison (1872-1913), an English suffragette, threw herself into the path of George V's horse Anmer during the 1913 Derby in an attempt to gain recognition for the suffragette cause. She died of the injuries she sustained in the incident. (Colorised black and white print).
