Caption: Monreale Cathedral, transept: the Byzantine mosaic which depicts King William II offering the Cathedral to the Virgin Mary. The mosaics of the Cathedral were made between the twelfth and mid-thirteenth century by partly local and partly Venetian workers, trained at the Byzantine school.
