FORESTIER. 'The Burmah War - Sir Frederick Roberts Meeting The Buddhist Archbishop at Mandalay', (1901). British soldier Sir Frederick, 1st Earl Roberts (1832-1914) meets the Thathanabaing at Mandalay in Burma, (now Myanmar), c1886. The Thathanabaing of Burma served as the head of the Buddhist Sangha (order of monks) in pre-colonial Burma.
