Galileo thermometer

Galileo thermometer. Galileo thermometer is made of a sealed cylinder that contains a liquid (such as ethanol) and several small glass bulbs of varying density. Small metal tags are attached to individual bulbs to adjust their respective densities and are also used for reading the temperature. The bulbs are often filled with colored liquids for decoration. The density of the surrounding liquid in the cylinder changes with changing temperature. This causes the submerged bulbs to rise or sink depending on their individual densities. The temperature is then read on the tag of the lowest floating bulb.
